Landing page experience
Also called LP quality.
Landing page experience is how usable and relevant the first page is after an ad or search click. Ad platforms score it, and so can you.
How it is measured
Judge it by message match with the ad, load time, mobile layout, clarity of the next step and trust signals. Use speed tests for load, and a manual review on a phone for the rest.
Tarsier's bounce and engagement figures by landing page show the outcome. Speed testing tells you part of the cause.
Worked example
A dentist runs an ad for 'same-day emergency dental'. The landing page opens with a general welcome and a stock photo, and the phone number is below the fold. 61 percent of visits leave inside 8 seconds.
A new page repeats the promise, puts a call button first and loads in 1.4 seconds. Calls rise from 14 to 41 a week on the same budget.
How it differs
Landing page experience is the quality of the first page. A landing page is the URL itself. Page speed is one part of it. A platform quality score is a number some ad systems assign to it.
Common errors
Sending all ads to the home page. Testing on desktop only. Ignoring speed. Rewriting copy that does not match the ad. Judging by bounce alone.
In practice
Open your top ad landing page on a phone with a weak connection and write down what is wrong in the first five seconds. Fix the first thing.
